Myxedema is a term used synonymously with severe hypothyroidism. However, the term is also used to describe a dermatological change that can occur in hyperthyroidism and (rare) paradoxical cases of hypothyroidism. In this latter sense, myxedema refers to deposition of mucopolysaccharides in the dermis, which results in swelling of the affected area. One manifestation of myxedema occurring in the lower limb is pretibial myxedema, a hallmark of Graves disease, an autoimmune form of hyperthyroidism. Myxedema can also occur in Hashimoto thyroiditis and other long - standing forms of hypothyroidism
হৃদরোগ (Cardiac Diseases)
করোনারী ধমনী হৃদপিণ্ডে রক্ত সরবরাহ করে। করোনারী ধমনীতে চর্বি জমাট বেধে গেলে হৃদপিণ্ডে রক্ত সরবরাহ বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। ফলে হৃদপিণ্ডের কিছু টিস্যু মরে যায়। এ ঘটনাকে হার্ট এটাক (Myocardial Infarction) বলে। হৃদরোগ বিভিন্ন কারণে হতে পারে। যেমন: ধূমপান, ডায়বেটিস, উচ্চ রক্তচাপ, শারীরিক পরিশ্রম না করা ইত্যাদি।
হৃদরোগের পরীক্ষা
(a) Coronary Angiography
(b) Echo Cardiography: Cardiograph হলো হৃদপিণ্ডের গতি নির্ণায়ক যন্ত্র। শব্দ তরঙ্গ ব্যবহার করে হৃদপিণ্ডের গতি পরীক্ষা করার পদ্ধতিকে Echo Cardiography বলে।
(c) E.T.T (Exercise Tolerance Test): হৃদপিণ্ডের কর্মদক্ষতা পরিমাপ করা হয়।
হৃদরোগের চিকিৎসা
(a) Coronary angioplasty: যা হল হৃৎপিণ্ডের বন্ধ শিরা বেলুনের সাহায্যে ফুলানো পদ্ধতির নাম হল করোনারী এনজিওপ্লাস্টি।
(b) Coronary bypass: এ পদ্ধতিতে করোনারী ধমনীর সরু অংশে ইনটারনাল ম্যামারী ধমনী বা সেপনাস শিরার দ্বারা bypass পথ তৈরি করা হয় যাতে হৃদপিণ্ডে রক্ত সরবরাহ স্বাভাবিক অবস্থায় ফিরে আসে।
